How The Indianapolis Colts Used Sports Technology To Improve Its Game In 2012-13 (INFOGRAPHIC)

Colts-Sports Technology

Like other NFL teams in 2012-13, the Indianapolis Colts also made the jump to Global Apptitude’s digital playbook to give themselves the competitive advantage.

Instead of resorting to a hefty 800-page playbook for another season, head coach Chuck Pagano opted for the trendier and more environmentally-friendly playbook.

But that wasn’t their only change in sports technology.

The Colts upgraded their Wi-Fi capabilities at their headquarters and practice facility in addition to providing fans with an instant replay app as well.

Through the app, fans at Lucas Oil Stadium can watch instant replays five seconds after they happen live on the field. Additionally, fans also have access to parking information, stats, videos, and more.

Check out the infographic below, provided by BizTech magazine, that analyzes the Colts’ upgrades in sports technology.

Fast Facts Regarding Colts Implementing New Sports Technology

  • 120 iPad devices were distributed to players and the coaching staff for the 2012-13 season.
  • The average NFL paper playbook consists of about 800 pages.
  • Before the team’s Wi-Fi upgrade at its practice facility, there was just 15% of coverage; now it’s at 100%.
