The Detroit Lions Calvin Johnson broke history Saturday night in a 31-18 loss against the Atlanta Falcons. The former Georgia Tech standout broke Jerry Rice’s NFL record for most receiving yards in a season.
Following Johnson’s record-breaking evening, professional athletes — both current and former — utilized social media in sports and specifically, twitter, to congratulate the Lions Pro Bowl wideout.
Rice’s old mark from 1995 was 1,848 yards, but the man more commonly referred to as ‘Megatron’, finished the game with 11 catches for 225 yards.
Johnson now has 1,892 yards on the season, with one game to play against the Chicago Bears, to eclipse the 2,000-yard milestone.
