Texas High School Installs State-Of-The-Art $750,000 Jumbotron

Carthage Jumbotron

Carthage High School in Carthage, Tex. is proving once again that ‘Everything is bigger in Texas.’ To go along with three Texas 3A football titles in the past four years, the Bulldogs are nearing completion of what they claim to be the world’s largest stadium screen for a high school sports team.

The latest development in sports technology measures 26 feet high and 44 feet wide, and costs a whopping $750,000. The jumbotron — which totals 1,200 square feet — will significantly add to Bulldog Stadium, a fixture in itself already that seats 6,500 people.

“It is the best stadium screen we have installed — it is the Cadillac for sure,” David Paslay, director of engineering with Nevco, the company responsible for the Carthage Jumbotron, told the Longview News Journal.

More Sports Technology Improvements Making News in Texas

Carthage (Texas) isn’t the only high school in Texas making significant advances in upgrading its football program. Allen High School, located in a suburb of Dallas, recently completed its $60 million stadium. Eagle Stadium will play host to its first game on August 31.

“I think our first class facilities tell everybody that we have first class academics and first class kids. Without them, we wouldn’t have those first class facilities,” Allen High principal, Steve Payne, told ABC News.
