On Wednesday, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 27-year old Odin Lloyd, a semi-pro football player.
Hernandez was also charged with one count of carrying a firearm without a license, two counts of possession of a large capacity firearm and two counts of posession of a firearm without a valid identification card.
Hernandez will be held without bail at the Bristol County House of Correction and Jail in North Dartmouth, Mass.
After it was revealed that Hernandez was arrested on Wednesday, he was released from his contract with the Pats.
A ton of interesting information has surfaced since his arrest which includes:
- A .45-caliber clip and ammunition were found after two additional search warrants were issued for Hernandez’s condo and car.
- Bristol County Assistant District Attorney William McCauley said Hernandez previously told his fiancée to stop cooperating with police.
- Prosecution mentioned a Hernandez photo has circulated on the Internet during the past 24 hours that shows him holding a Glock .45 and there is good reason to believe this is the gun that killed Lloyd.
- A home security video shows Hernandez and a second man holding guns when exiting a vehicle at Hernandez’s house after the murder.
Based on the information that is being revealed it looks like Hernandez may be in some big trouble.
The former high school football player of the year for Connecticut has the support of his hometown in Bristol – as fans stood outside the court house n”Innocent, innocent,” – and his mother Terri Hernandez who spoke to the media on Thursday.
“All I can say is that he will be cleared of all these charges in the end,” said Terri Hernandez.
“Just let it play out until the end.”
Based on the information that continues to be revealed it seems pretty doubtful that Hernandez will get off scott free in this case unless some drastic piece of evidence surfaces that shows him to be not guilty.
This is a shame that another star athlete and talent’s career will be ruined thanks to a stupid decision, but surely there is more to this story that needs to be revealed before we find out the truth as to why Hernandez may have murdered Lloyd.
This case will definetely be one to watch in the sports world over the next few days, weeks and even months and it wouldn’t be surprising to see Hernandez go away for a very long time.
