Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III might be No. 10 on the field, but RG III as he’s better known to the sports world, is No. 1 in NFL jersey sales for the 2012-13 season.
According to NFL league spokeswoman Joanna Hunter’s comments to ESPN.com, RG III’s jersey has sold more than any other player’s in a single year since the league actually started tracking the statistic about six years ago.
The league’s fiscal year runs from the beginning of April till March 31, so RG III has the NFL’s highest-selling jersey with a few months left. Pretty impressive, eh?
As ESPN’s Sports Business Reporter Darren Rovell writes, it seems as though everything that RG III has a hand in is flying off store shelves. For example, the former Heisman winner’s signature socks that are produced by Adidas are no longer in stock.
