Skullcandy is a reputable supplier of headphones, earbuds, and other audio/electronic equipement.
And the decade-old company — which is based in Park City, Utah — has historically been known to partner with athletes that participate in outdoor action sports.
As of late, though, that’s been changing as Skullycandy has broadened its sports marketing endeavors to include NBA talent such as Okalahoma City’s Kevin Durant and James Harden along with the Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose.
Skullcandy Signs First Sports Marketing Deal With NFLer
Earlier this week, the hip brand decided to take its sports marketing initiative one step further, dipping its feet into the NFL water and signing Buffalo Bills No. 1 wideout Stevie Johnson to a sports marketing deal.
With the help of Johnson’s agent, C.J. LaBoy and his marketing manager, James Barry, Skullcandy is now partnering with one of the bright young talents in the NFL. Johnson — a University of Kentucky product — has 21 receptions for 234 yards and three touchdowns in 2012.
“We are completely awed by the signing of Skullcandy’s first NFL athlete, Buffalo Bills’ #1 wide receiver, Stevie Johnson,” said Skullcandy on its website regarding the sports marketing signing. “An elite athlete with a passion for music, Stevie is living the Skullcandy brand. We’re stoked about the relationship and ready to cheer on his Bills all NFL season. Wait until you see what we have planned for him in the off-season.”
