It has been 12 years since the Miami Dolphins won a playoff game. Perhaps this has contributed to the team’s declining ticket sales. But a new day is on the horizon and the fans know it. So far this year, Miami has seen an influx in season ticket purchases, but the team says there is still work to be done.
Ticket sales on the rise for the Dolphins
Over the offseason, the Dolphins underwent a rebranding phase in which the team released new uniforms as well as a new logo. The color scheme took on a more vintage look, which is sure to catch the eyes of older fans.
Add the fact that the team added some great offseason acquisitions and you can consider the team taking a step in the right direction.
While last year saw 40,192 season ticket packages sold, the team’s season ticket totals are currently up by 31.4 percent according to Jim Rushton, the team’s chief revenue officer. Not only that, but their total ticket sales are up 13.3 percent, which is encouraging.
While Sun Life Stadium holds roughly 75,000 people, there is still work to do. The Dolphins are doing a variety of things to help improve their ticket sales, such as:
- Three game promotion packages are available.
- With the purchase of an adult ticket, kids 15 and under get in for $15.
- All inclusive club passes include a meal before the game and during halftime.
- Family plans include four tickets, parking, and food for $199.
“We’re on a rebound,” Rushton said. “It’s been a challenging few years for a number of reasons.” As previously mentioned, the Dolphins failure to win a playoff game in 12 years could be one of those reasons. Advancements in technology can also contribute to declining ticket sales, as many other teams have realized as well.
The fans are enthusiastic though, as evidenced by the 35,000 requests for training camp passes. Things in Miami seem to be looking up. Rebranding and offseason acquisitions can take partial credit for increased ticket sales, but new ticketing packages and promotions seem to have made their own footprint as well.
