In a recent sports media shakeup, CNN/Turner Sports has poached ESPN reporter, Rachel Nichols, away from Bristol, Ct. to anchor a new weekend sports program.
Nichols has been a well-recognizable face with the Worldwide Leader in Sports for the better part of the last decade, where she was a regular correspondent on SportsCenter, NBA Countdown, and NFL Countdown.
The weekend sports program that Nichols will host isn’t set to debut until later in the calendar year. However, she will still cover major sporting events for CNN, including Super Bowl XLVII.
She’ll also report for Turner Sports and assist with MLB on TBS and the NBA on TNT.
It has been a constant theme as of late with ESPN not being able to keep its female top talent, with Erin Andrews recently departing for Fox Sports and Michelle Beadle heading over the NBC Sports.
“We’re just thrilled that a sports journalist of Rachel’s stature and expertise will now be a regular part of the CNN lineup,” Jeffrey Zucker, President of CNN Worldwide, said in a statement. “Her arrival, beginning next week, is an important step in expanding the range of programming and storytelling on CNN.”

For those asking about Turner, I’ll be working sidelines for TNT’s NBA games, and on Major League Baseball playoff games on TBS

And of course Turner has rights to golf, NCAA tournament, NASCAR and other properties, so I’ll contribute throughout.
