FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has been a fan of the Head and Shoulders shampoo brand for years.
Now, instead of just using the Proctor and Gamble product, the 25-year-old striker will be promoting it as he’ll be appearing in online and television advertisements designed to target U.S. Hispanic males.
With his new endorsement deal, Lionel Messi joins other athletes like Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu and Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps as brand ambassadors who have promoted Head and Shoulders.
Other brands besides Head and Shoulders that Messi endorses include EA Sports, Adidas, and Pepsi Co., totaling annually around $20 million.
“The fact that Leo is a fan of Head & Shoulders, and now our ambassador, gives us a tremendous opportunity to be able to create a personal connection with our Hispanic male consumers,”said Michael Saabia, Brand Manager.
As Lionel Messi expands into the U.S., he’ll also appear on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube in order to promote Head and Shoulders.
