Following a 12-year NFL career that saw stops in Washington and Denver, former offensive guard Mark Schlereth is now a well-known media personality making regular fill-in appearances on Mike and Mike in the Morning; the Anchorage, Alaska native also co-hosts a nightly radio show on ESPN with fellow broadcaster, Mike Hill.
After his career in sports, though, Schlereth might now better be known for his “Stinkin” Good Green Chile, which he started with his business-partner neighbor, David Bloom, almost five years ago.
Centerplate — the event hospitality partner to the Denver Broncos — recently decided to start selling Schlereth’s chile at Sports Authority Field at Mile High; it is also the Official Chile of Coors Field (Colorado Rockies) and the Pepsi Center (Colorado Avalanche).
“The company was started by two guys who knew nothing about the food industry,” said Schlereth to the Denver Business Journal. “We’ve made more mistakes than things we’ve done right. Luckily we have the greatest product on the market. That’s what saved us.”
