ODU Football Twitter Ban Among Most Restrictive In College Football

Bobby Wilder-ODUFlorida State football head coach Jimbo Fisher issued a twitter ban for his program in mid-July. It was the second time during his tenure where he’s had to enforce such a policy.

Now, we have the ODU football twitter ban as head coach Bobby Wilder went one step further by instituting a year-round twitter ban for as long as a player is on the Old Dominion team. The crackdown is arguably one of the strictest policies in college football, and it might be among the harshest across the college sports world.

“Twitter is a me thing; it’s all about me,” Wilder said to The Virginian-Pilot“When you’re a part of this team, it’s not about me. It’s about everyone collectively.”

Wilder cited an excessive number of tweets from players along with objectionable comments and poor performance in the classroom as a few of the reasons for implementing the policy. Players are still able to have a facebook account as long as they are friends with the ODU facebook page, which is monitored by Chris Crouch, Director of Football Operations.
