With the Barclays Center set to open in six weeks on September 28, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. has recently formed a sports sponsorship with the Brooklyn Nets/Barclays Center, making Honda the 10th Founding Partner of the arena. The marketing agreement marks Honda’s first-ever sponsorship with a sports/entertainment venue on the East Coast, and it joins other corporate sponsors like American Express and Calvin Klein.
“New York is undeniably an important region for Honda and the alliance with Barclays Center and the Brooklyn Nets is a great fit within our marketing efforts in the Northeast. We couldn’t be more excited to be part of this landmark venue,” said Michael Accavitti, vice president of marketing operations, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Barclays Center is an innovative venue that aligns well with the Honda brand and we’re looking forward to being a part of the action and excitement in Brooklyn.”
One of the clubs in the Barclays Center will be named the Honda Club. In addition, Honda will also sponsor the BROOKLYN HOOPS™ Winter Festival college basketball tripleheader on Saturday, December 15.
According to Honda’s press release announcing the sponsorship, the Japanese car manufacturer will have a fan-friendly interactive display on the arena’s main level. The company’s sponsorship rights also include regular exposure on the radio during Brooklyn Nets games and in-arena signage during Nets home games.
