For 88 years, America’s own cap company, New Era, has been providing headwear to sports fans across the globe. With its history firmly rooted in Major League Baseball, New Era entered the new frontier of professional football earlier this year when it signed a five-year contract to be the official headwear provider of the National Football League.
New Era’s partnership with the NFL began just prior to the NFL Draft. This week in New Orleans, the company put the capstone on its first year of NFL business during Super Bowl week.

#Harbowl Could Vault Brothers Into Marketing Campaigns
There will be family drama this Super Bowl Sunday when the Ravens play the 49ers in what has become known as the Harbowl. Regardless of which team hoists the Lombardi Trophy Sunday night, both Jim and John Harbaugh could join the likes of Peyton and Eli Manning and Venus and Serena Williams as the next pair of sibling endorsers in sports.
The first Harbowl between the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers in 2011 drew the largest audience for a Thanksgiving program according to ratings-service data extending back to 1994. If the Turkey Day matchup wasn’t an indicator of just how large a marketing tool the sibling rivalry could be, the Super Bowl will certainly push the brothers into the endorsement spotlight. I’m kind of surprised this sibling duo was overlooked before the NFL playoffs began.

The Rebranding Process Of New Orleans
With a record of 14-29, currently the fourth worst record in the NBA, and ranked 23rd in the latest ESPN Power Rankings, the future would seem dark for an NBA franchise. In addition, they lost arguably the biggest star to ever play for their franchise over the off-season.
This botched handling of their 6x All Star and 2x All NBA 1st Team free agent, who publicly declared his desire to leave the team buried the franchise in negative publicity and PR. They were pegged as a destination no one wanted to go. Starless and humiliated, the New Orleans Hornets were in desperate need of re-branding.

Navigating The Sports Job Search – Part 1: What Does Your Ideal Job Look Like?
While interning for a sports organization certainly helps you get into the business, you are not officially broken into the sports industry until you land that first full-time job. The job search process is not an easy one, especially given the state of the economy and the supply-demand inequality associated with the nature of the sports business.
You will likely have to go at it alone and not have the privilege of someone walking you through the process. After personally learning it the hard way, I (Michael Riley) do not want to see any of you waste your time trying to land that first job. In the next 3 posts, I want to walk you through how I navigated the job search a couple of months ago and successfully broke into the sports business. What I am about to say is not gospel, but it worked for me. If I can do it, so can you.

NFL Stars Gather, Game At ‘Madden’ Bowl
Arian Foster has something he’d like to say to all of his Twitter followers who blame him when his character fumbles in “Madden.”
“You have to remember one thing, I didn’t actually fumble the ball. You fumbled the ball,” Foster said with a laugh as we talked video games from Madden Bowl XIX Thursday night inside New Orleans’ Bud Light Hotel.
The EA Sports event pits elite NFL gamers against each other in “Madden 13’s” 3 vs. 3 online team play, and while the competition was heated, all of the players were eager to dish the dirt on their favorite memories playing “Madden,” especially considering that 2013 marks the game’s 25th anniversary.
