I can’t honestly say the usage of Square alone is a good determining factor for the Super Bowl having superiority over the Final Four in terms of local revenue. Here in Atlanta there are a lot of apps that local vendors use in order to attract customers and provide them with ways to pay. The app LevelUp for instance is widely used in Atlanta, but is not available in New Orleans at the moment. Therefore many people, especially those coming from other big cities where this app is used, may be using LevelUp instead of paying through Square. This would make a lot of sense since you don’t need to swipe your card at the vendor location, you pay through your phone (similar to Google Wallet). NFC technology for payment is becoming more popular so figures will change pretty regularly.
