Samsung Enhances The NBA With New Partnership

Samsung Partners with the NBAIn a recent deal with the NBA, Samsung has officially become the league’s tablet, handset, and television provider.

The new multiyear deal is reported worth $100 million and will provide the NBA with an enhanced product on and off the court.

Samsung’s other recent endorsements, including partnerships with Lebron James and Jay-Z, will likely work in well with the companies new NBA partnership.  The electronics company vouches to enhance the game from both the players’ aspect as well as the fans’.

Samsung will enhance the NBA

Not only will Samsung provide the NBA great technology, but the partnership will also include the WNBA and the NBA D-League.  This will provide the electronics company with a more broad marketing reach.  Mark Tatum, NBA Executive Vice President, Global Marketing Partnerships, added:

“More than ever, NBA fans are connecting with our game across mobile devices, tablets, and televisions, and Samsung’s world-renowned products will bring them closer to the game.  Samsung’s extraordinary commitment across the NBA, WNBA and NBA D-League will impact our game both on and off the court.”

Samsung will serve as the following:

  • Title partner of NBA Summer League  (a showcase of the league’s most talented young players held every summer in Las Vegas).
  • Associate partner of NBA All-Star Jam Session.
  • Associate partner of 2014 Sprint NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, and the NBA Draft presented by State Farm.
  • Presenting partner of the NBA D-League Showcase.
  • Title partner of the WNBA Performance Awards.

Additionally, Samsung will have a significant presence on NBA national game telecasts on ABC, ESPN, and TNT, along with NBA Digital properties NBA TV, NBA.com, and NBA Mobile. It will also be the presenting partner of NBA TV’s NBA Inside Stuff.

Not only does the deal offer Samsung a huge range of opportunities, it also offers the NBA the chance to enhance the game and push forward into the future.  Todd Pendleton, Chief Marketing Officer for Samsung Telecommunications America, exclaimed:

“With this partnership Samsung and the NBA are committed to elevating the future of the game with innovative product and service solutions for the players, coaches, referees and fans.  With these new experiences players will be able to take their game to the next level while fans will be able to engage in new ways with their favorite teams and players.”

The deal is also said to include some special “Samsung devices only” content.  With the partnership, Samsung has embarked on its most extensive partnership with a North American sports league.
