10 NEXTSportsPro and the Ivy Symposium are delighted to announce the ten exceptional young sports executives that make up the 10 NEXT Class of 2012.

The 10 NEXT was conceived as an award to recognise outstanding individuals from the sports industry under the age of the 30, whose early achievements have set them apart from their peers. Nominations were received from around the world throughout August and September before an independent judging panel whittled the list down to around 20 exceptional individuals. Based upon the criteria sticks of uniqueness and outstanding ability, the final ten were voted upon and are announced here:

Clippers’ Griffin Newest Member Of Team Jordan

Blake GriffinNike’s Jordan brand just got a whole lot slam dunkier, as Blake Griffin has joined the infamous Jumpman ranks. Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports that the Clippers star is heading to the big time when it comes to sneaker endorsements, joining a bevy of basketball talents.

As the report notes, this is turning out to be quite the year for the king of posterizing dunks and the prince of missed free throws, Griffin. The 23-year-old joined other 2009 first-round picks in signing a contract extension with his respective team, a potential $95 million over five years.

Walmart To Sponsor Carrier Classic On November 9th

Carrier Classic-2011Walmart has been announced as the new title sponsor of the college basketball season opener, the Carrier Classic, according to the event’s organiser Morale Entertainment Foundation. Walmart’s multi-year title sponsorship of the event will see the event renamed the Walmart Carrier Classic.

The 2012 Walmart Carrier Classic is due to be played on 9th November on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier. The exact financial and durational terms of Walmart’s title sponsorship were not released.

2012 Winter Classic At Michigan Stadium Cancelled

2012 Winter ClassicThe NHL lockout took perhaps its most significant turn yet on Friday when the league canceled the Winter Classic.

“The logistical demands for staging events of this magnitude made today’s decision unavoidable. We simply are out of time,” said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly in a league statement. “We are extremely disappointed, for our fans and for all those affected, to have to cancel the Winter Classic and Hockeytown Winter Festival events.”

Mississippi St. Adds #SNOWBOWL12 To End Zone For Texas A&M Game

Mississippi State-Snow BowlTexas A&M’s first season in the SEC has included several tributes to the past. But reuniting with old SWC foe Arkansas or renewing the annual meetings with LSU aren’t the only games on the Aggies’ SEC schedule with some unique history. On Saturday, Texas A&M will play Mississippi State for the first time since the 2000 Independence Bowl — a game later tabbed “The Snow Bowl” due to, well, all of the snow.

To commemorate the meeting, Mississippi State will be wearing all-white uniforms and will likely include some tribute to the game — a 43-41 thriller that the Bulldogs won in overtime — during the contest. The Bulldogs have also declared an official hashtag for the game and painted it across their end zone.
