Astros Name 27-Year-Old David Stearns Assistant General Manager
The Houston Astros have a new assistant general manager, and it’s David Stearns. This wouldn’t normally be huge news, but Stearns is only 27 years old.
“David was highly recommended by several industry experts,” Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow said. “His experience working at Major League Baseball as well as with three different clubs will be an asset for us.”
Stearns is a 2007 Harvard graduate and spent 2008-11 working in MLB’s office of the commissioner. He spent last season as the Indians’ director of baseball operations and also has experience working with the Mets, Pirates and the Arizona Fall League.

Texas A&M redshirt freshman quarterback Johnny Manziel is turning heads. In nine games, he has thrown for more than 2,500 yards and for 16 touchdowns and is closing in on 1,000 rushing yards.
