USA’s Gabby Douglas Goes For Gold In Nintendo Marketing Campaign

Gabby DouglasAt the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, USA Olympic gymnast, Gabby Douglas, came home with not one, but two, gold medals. The 16-year-old from Virginia Beach, Va. came in first in the team all-around, and she received top honors in the individual all-around as well.

Six weeks later, and the now highly-recognizable teenager is once again in the spotlight; Douglas has signed on with Nintendo to appear in the company’s 3DS and 3DS XL commercials to promote the portable gaming devices.

Through Nintendo’s “Play As You Are Campaign” — which is designed to target women — Douglas will also market the New Super Mario Bros. 2, which was officially launched on August 19. Other well-known females working alongside Douglas include television stars Dianna Agron (of Fox’s Glee) and Sarah Hyland (of ABC’s Modern Family).

“These women are all amazing role models with their own unique tastes and talents,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “They know firsthand how Nintendo 3DS can keep them entertained and engaged wherever they go. We think young girls and women of all ages will enjoy hearing what they have to say about their favorite games and activities on Nintendo 3DS.”
